FAQ From Our Valued Customers

Hello Everyone,

It has certainly been a while since we have last updated our article post and we apologize for the delay. But, we are back and ready to inform our customers of our latest FAQ. With our newest products in-stock, we have noticed that it confuses our customers of whether these new units will be compatible with their old units. In addition, we will be answering our top most asked questions below. Like always, please feel free to comment or ask any questions in our comment section. Thank you

Q. Will my old cameras be compatible with your newest security systems

A. It really depends on which cameras and cables you currently have. For example, let’s say that you previously had a 720p HD camera system before, and you are now upgrading to a 1080p camera system. Majority of the times when this happens, many of our customers will stick to the 720p BNC cables they have used before due to the convenience of not having to rewire new cablings. However, due to the newer systems carrying 1080p HD cameras, without 1080p BNC cablings, the feed for your cameras will either be very blurry or will not show up at all. Therefore, if using a 1080p camera, please make sure the cablings are 1080p BNC cables as well

Q. What if I have 1080p cables wired but my cameras are 720p HD cameras?

A. This will be totally fine. As long as your DVR supports 1080p and have 1080p BNC cables wired, it will be backward compatible with most, but not all, 720p HD cameras, 600TVL cameras, and lower resolution cameras.

Q. I recently bought the new SEW-3053W baby monitor. However, I also have the SEW-3043W baby monitor and camera remaining. Can the old camera work with the new baby monitor I bought?

A. Absolutely. The SEP-1003R (From SEW-3043) will be compatible with the SEW-3053W and it will be very easy to pair. However, for those who had the SEW-3037, those cameras (SEP-1001R) will neither be compatible with the SEW-3053 nor the SEW-3043.

Q. I’m looking to purchase just the DVR from your website. Does it comes with any accessories or is it just the DVR?

A. Yes, the DVR will be included with the necessary accessories. It will come with a remote, mouse, RJ45 Cable, HDMI Cable, 4-Pin or 8-Pin splitter (depending on which channel DVR you buy), power adapter, CD, and a manual.

Q. I recently bought a system but I’m not too sure if it comes with cables.

A. Don’t you worry, we have it all covered! Yes, all systems will come with cables. The number of cameras that are included with the system is how many cables will be included as well.

Q. How long are the cables that come with the system?

A. They will be 60ft in length. However, 2 of the cables that come with the system will be 90 ft. So for example, if you buy the 10 camera security system, eight of the cables will be 60 ft. and the remaining two will be 90 ft.

Q. I forgot my password to my DVR. Is there a way I can reset the password?

A. Yes, although we usually recommend our customers calling our Samsung Tech Support (877-349-3149) the following sequence can reset your DVR with the use of the remote that comes with the DVR.

  1. The first is for our older model security systems.

Freeze –> Alarm –> Freeze –> Alarm –> Freeze –> Return

  1. This sequence is for our latest security systems (Samsung Wisenet Series)

Press the Up button, Right button, (Number Pad) 5, 3,3

If you are not sure which one to use, please call our Samsung Tech Support or our personal customer service number line (201-840-6755).

Q. What if I want to return something or my purchase malfunctions?

A.For any items that are refurbished, our return policy is 14 days. However, any item that is New, our return policy is 30 days on Amazon and eBay and 60 days on Soltechsecurity.com.

If your product seems to be broken or malfunctions, our warranty for any refurbished items is 90 days. For anything that is new, you will be provided with a 1-year warranty.

Q. Can I place orders over the phone?

A. Yes. Starting from the month of December 2017, we have decided to take matters into our own hands and take orders over the phone. Please let our customer service representative know which item you are in need of so they can assist you in the best way possible.

Q. I don’t think a 1 or 2TB hard drive is enough, is it possible for me to input a bigger hard drive?

A. It is certain that you can input a bigger hard drive. However, we don’t recommend you to do so, due to any replacements regarding the hard drive will void your 1-year warranty with Samsung. All in all, it is the buyer’s discretion to do so if he/she really needs to upgrade the hard drive, but like mentioned before, we do not recommend it. Nonetheless, there is one secret. Most of our DVR’s has an internal option to read an external SATA HDD as internal storage. Which means you’d be able to beef up your memory on your DVR. Therefore, up to 8 TB, External HDD’s will be supported! *yay*

Q. Can I view my security system feed through my Mac Book

A. Unfortunately, all our systems perform best when using internet explorer. We are doing the best we can to resolve this problem of viewing through Mac Books, but for the time being, we highly recommend using internet explorer when viewing your feed.
